'Make Art Great Again'
Art and politics have gone hand in hand from the time of the Renaissance and the relationship is just as strong now as it was then. Politics influences art through policy and culture as well as its commissioners, buyers and collectors. Within my work and research, I explore this influence, how politicians use the power of art and sometimes taking a specific political issue as a theme. As an artist, I focus on video and installation art and my goal as an artist is to contextualize and explain politics. I believe that by thoroughly understanding politics and its players we can make educated decisions to change our society for the better. To achieve this, I often use recognisable imagery and twist it to create an immersive experience for my audience. Make Art Great Again is a satirical take on the sexual assault allegations facing the seemingly untouchable and unapologetic Donald Trump.
