‘Gimme Some Sugar’ (2019)
What does it mean to be vulnerable? Through a multi-disciplinary practice, I explore vulnerability, story-telling and more recently, love. From textile work to performances on a theatre stage, I aim to grasp vulnerability by the horns and understand how it underpins life. My practice, while experimental, is becoming more in tune with understanding my own passivity. Recently, my work has taken a turn, specifically looking at love. What does it mean to be in love and to love another? These are questions that I aim to answer within my upcoming degree show exhibition ‘Pie’N’Ears’. I ask spectators to come visit the fairy of love, as she (I) have much to give. Through this experience I will have a personal connection to each of my participants and in return they have the option to reject the love I give them, which is a consequence of the little bit of sugar they initially feed me. It reflects upon the relationship between giving and receiving care and affection in a loving relationship. Pie’N’Ears is a chance for me to love till I have no more love left to give.
